EV Charging FAQ's
Most electric vehicles include a basic 110-volt charging unit that plugs into a standard electric outlet, this is called Level 1 charging. This is the cheapest option, but also the slowest. To upgrade your charging speeds, a home charging station can be installed in your home. This is called Level 2 charging and typically increases the charging speed by 3-4 times compared to Level 1 charging.
Based on CI 0.28 cents per kWh energy consumption, charging a battery with a capacity of 50kWh would cost CI$14 for a full charge. For comparison, a larger battery of 75kWh would cost CI$21 for a full charge.

Cayman’s utility company (CUC) has introduced off-peak charging periods that are defined as Monday through Friday from 11:00pm to 7:59am and all hours of the day during weekends. Through CUC you can apply for a special meter capable of measuring energy consumption for the sole use of EV charging at adjusted rates.
